At the confluence of art and litter we find artist Mimi Jardine. She currently has a show at the Eye Lounge, on Roosevelt Row in Phoenix, showing casing litter and gum that she collected while in Italy, as well as, a room with red straw scribbles to emphasize the unsustainablity of single use products.
This isn’t Mimi’s first foray into the artistic world of litter. Some of Mimi’s other projects include a faux government agency called The Office of Environmental Responsibility (TOER). As the TOER web site notes, this agency “was created by a litter visionary to encourage the general public to participate in the tidying of their environment by making participation fun and rewarding.” There are different divisions in the agency as well like the To-Go Lid. TOER also has a Mobile Remittance Unit pictured below.
To see Mimi’s show in person visit Eye Lounge at 419 E. Roosevelt in Phoenix or visit the TOER web site at www.theofficeofenvironmentalresponsibility.org or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/theofficeofenvironmentalresponsibility/timeline.
